This holiday season, UScellular is giving back to the local community by providing needed items to Girls Inc. of Tennessee Valley. With its “Gift of Connection” program, UScellular is donating $1,000 worth of sports equipment to support Girls Inc. of the Tennessee Valley’s mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
The donation includes league grade basketballs and soccer goals. The organization plans to restart the basketball program for girls under the direction of former Tennessee Lady Vol Nicky Anosike, who was hired in August as athletic director.
“Girls Inc. of the Tennessee Valley does so much for the Knoxville, Oak Ridge and Blount County communities, so we want to help them deliver the much-needed support they provide with a donation of sports equipment,” said Thomas White, director of sales at UScellular in East Tennessee. “At UScellular, we strive to unleash the power of our communities and are excited to help connect people to what matters most this holiday season.”
The gift is one of 40 donations to nonprofits across the country in honor of UScellular’s 40th anniversary. The company is helping organizations that bring people and communities together to enjoy genuine connections through arts, music, sports and food with needed supplies.
Since 2009, UScellular has invested more than $35 million in monetary donations, technology resources and countless experiences to non-profit organizations across the country.
In addition, UScellular is inviting the community to participate in the Gift of Connection through a donation drive at UScellular retail locations.
