The Christman Company’s Knoxville region has been recognized with the 2022 Platinum STEP Award by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). This honor, presented annually by the national construction industry trade association, signifies a company’s commitment to jobsite safety and exemplary safety programs.
“Safety is a fundamental aspect of our operations at The Christman Company,” said Marty Gibbs, senior vice president and general manager for Christman’s operations in Knoxville. “This recognition from ABC underscores our commitment to fostering a safe work environment for everyone involved.”
Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) is a program developed by ABC to assist construction companies in assessing and improving their safety practices and procedures. The program provides a detailed framework for companies to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas that may need improvement.
ABC National Safety Excellence Awards are designed to acknowledge companies that consistently prioritize safety in their operations. The award is granted based on data submitted through the ABC STEP Safety Management System, and categories correspond to a company’s total work hours per calendar year and its placement within the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes.
“We thank ABC for acknowledging The Christman Company’s efforts in workplace safety,” Gibbs said. “We also extend our appreciation to all team members and trade contractor partners for their contributions toward maintaining safety standards and achieving this recognition.”
