Knoxville-based Summit Strategic Solutions has named Jack Thompson as CEO, effective Sept. 12.
Summit Strategic Solutions was launched in 2015 by its parent company Healthcaring Ventures to develop innovative consumer-focused healthcare delivery systems. As a management and transformation services organization (MSO/TSO), Summit Strategic Solutions offers services and solutions to help physician practices, health insurance plans and self-insured employers gain a strategic, competitive and financial edge in the ever-changing healthcare industry. The company currently provides core management services to Knoxville-based Summit Medical Group.
Thompson will succeed Tim Young, who served as Summit Strategic Solutions CEO from the company’s inception until his recent departure. Chief Science & Innovation Officer Jack Kam has served as executive leader during the transition.
“We are pleased to announce Jack Thompson as CEO of Summit Strategic Solutions, and we are confident that he will continue to grow the organization as an industry leader, helping clients achieve better outcomes and efficiency in practice management, population health management and value-based care,” said Dr. Wesley Dean, chairman of Healthcaring Ventures.
“His entrepreneurial spirit and extensive experience in business management, start-up ventures and healthcare are the right fit to lead the organization’s work to transform the healthcare delivery landscape.”
Thompson has worked extensively in the areas of change management integration, including future healthcare reimbursement trends, as well as population management, value-based care and quality initiatives.
Thompson currently serves as president and CEO of Health Matrix, LLC, in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining Health Matrix in 2014, he was president & CEO of the Houston-based start-up and high-growth healthcare company FemPartners; CEO and CFO of Cardiovascular Ventures, Inc.; senior executive at the national healthcare company Health Infusion, Inc.; and senior manager/partner of Arthur Andersen & Company in North Carolina and Florida.
A certified public accountant, Thompson earned both his master’s degree in business administration and bachelor’s degree in accounting from East Carolina University. He is a native of North Carolina and currently resides in Houston with his wife, Debbe Thompson, Ph.D., though they plan to relocate to the Knoxville area this fall. They have three adult godchildren.
