South College has been awarded initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) for the Certificate in Medical Assisting program at its Atlanta campus.

“Medical Assistants are instrumental in a variety of healthcare settings, and the Certificate in Medical Assisting program at South College offers excellent educational instruction in the classroom and practical training in the lab and practicum courses, creating experiences for well-trained students,” said Josh Huffaker, president of the Atlanta campus. “Programmatic accreditation is important to show our commitment to continuous improvement by meeting or exceeding national standards, and we celebrate this milestone that will benefit both our students and the future of the program.”

CAAHEP accredits educational programs that prepare health professionals in a variety of disciplinary areas. Programs are accredited when it is determined that they meet the educational standards and guidelines established by the profession. A peer review conducted by the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) and CAAHEP’s board recognized the South College Atlanta Certificate in Medical Assisting program’s compliance with nationally established accreditation standards.
