Home Federal Bank recently presented a $50,000 donation to Project GRAD Knoxville in support of the nonprofit’s scholarship program. The bank has been a major sponsor of Project GRAD Knoxville since 2002.
“We specifically invest in Project GRAD scholarships because we believe that education is the single best way to help young, disadvantaged people rise above obstacles and achieve success,” Chairman and CEO Dale Keasling said. “With a good education, the sky is the limit on what these young people can accomplish.”
Project GRAD Executive Director and CEO Vrondelia (Ronni) Chandler says that Home Federal Bank’s unwavering support of Project GRAD Knoxville since 2002 has helped 1,176 GRAD scholars pursue a postsecondary path, which helps the students and the community. “Nationally, 10 percent of students from low-income circumstances complete higher education. GRAD Knoxville’s postsecondary completion rate for students from similar circumstances is 46 percent,” said Chandler. “Today, many of those alumni scholars are employed across the community, state, nation and world. Home Federal is our hometown hero!”
Project GRAD is a national education program known for improving college attendance rates among students. By focusing on improving student achievement and graduation rates, college and career path readiness, and college completion rates, Project GRAD works to ensure academic and professional success.
