Local celebrities to greet Pilot customers during three-day event

For three days, all it takes to help the Knoxville community is to fill up your gas tank, enjoy a coffee or grab a snack. Visit any Knox County Pilot Convenience Store during Pilot Celebrity Pumpers from Oct. 14-16, and Pilot will donate a portion of the proceeds to the United Way of Greater Knoxville.

Pilot Founder and Chairman James A. Haslam II, right, unveils a donation of $97,173, the total amount raised for the United Way of Greater Knoxville through the 2018 Pilot Celebrity Pumpers fundraiser.

During the 27th annual Pilot Celebrity Pumpers, more than 70 Knoxville celebrities, including media personalities, elected officials and University of Tennessee coaches and representatives, will pump gas for Pilot guests Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 14-16.

During the three-day event, Pilot will donate five cents of every gallon of gasoline sold and 10 cents of every dollar spent in-store to the United Way. The event takes place at all Knox County Pilot Convenience Store locations.

“Pilot Pumpers has been a fun and easy way for our guests to join us in making a difference in our community by supporting the United Way of Greater Knoxville,” Pilot Founder Jim Haslam said. “We enjoy seeing our local celebrities, team members, guests and friends join together to raise funds and help their neighbors in need through the United Way. Mark your calendars for Oct. 14-16 to join us and fill up your fuel tank!”

Pilot Celebrity Pumpers is the single-largest special event fundraiser for the United Way of Greater Knoxville’s annual campaign. The 2018 event raised a record $97,173, and since its inception, the event has raised more than $1.4 million for United Way.
