The Knoxville Convention Center once again is inviting families, young people and adults to travel back in time 65 million years at “Discover the Dinosaurs” on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28.
This is the third year Knoxville will host the interactive family exhibition that features more than 60 museum-quality and animatronic dinosaur replicas. In the exhibit’s first two years, more than 48,000 children and adults attended the attraction at the Convention Center.
“The ‘Discover the Dinosaurs’ event has become extremely popular here at the Knoxville Convention Center,” General Manager Mary Bogert said. “Our largest exhibit hall is transformed into a prehistoric adventure for children of all ages. With the hands-on attractions and lifelike animatronic replicas that move and roar, kids feel like they are experiencing living dinosaurs.”
“Discover the Dinosaurs,” produced by Blue Star Productions, is designed to provide children and adults with a unique and educational way to explore prehistoric life. The hands-on exhibit allows visitors to get close and even touch the replicas. The backdrops for the prehistoric scenes are custom-designed to reflect the landscapes of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
“This is a fabulous adventure for the whole family,” Bogert said. “It’s never been more fun to learn about dinosaurs!”
The exhibit is open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Discover the Dinosaurs” offers two convenient pricing options. Exhibit-only admission tickets, available at the door, are $18 for adults; $16, seniors; and $16, children ages 2-12. Ticket price includes access to the 60 replicas, plus attractions such as a Dino Dig, Dino Theater, Dino Den play area, Dino Coloring and a scavenger hunt.
The $22 all-inclusive Exhibit Plus ticket is available for online purchase and, in addition to the exhibit activities, allows unlimited admission to Triceratops and T-Rex rides and inflatables. The all-inclusive tickets are available at http://www.discoverthedinosaurs.com and also will be sold at the door.
