Asbury Place continuing care retirement communities in Maryville recently named Gwyn Earl as director of admissions and community liaison.

An individual with a heart for aiding seniors, Earl spent the past eight years serving as certified assisted living administrator at Trinity Hills Assisted Living in Knoxville. She also serves on the board of Purple Cities Alliance, an initiative that helped Knoxville be named the first dementia-friendly city in the United States.

“Gwyn shares our passion for serving seniors and meeting their needs – emotional, social, physical and spiritual,” said Carolyn Neil, Asbury Place Maryville health care administrator. “She views this work as a calling and has the skills and background to make a difference. We are delighted to have her join our team.”

Earl became a caregiver at a young age in what has become a lifelong commitment to serving aging adults.

“Serving seniors is a family tradition,” Earl said. “It is an indescribable blessing to touch people’s lives at times when they most need it.”

An active community volunteer, Earl is chair-elect of the East Knoxville Business and Professional Association and is a member of Town Hall East and the Knox Area Senior Resource Networking. In 2009 she was selected to be a member of the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee Leadership Class, and in 2012 she received the LeadingAge Tennessee Whatever It Takes and the Trinity Hills Tyson H. Wallis Community Impact awards.

Earl and her husband, Tony, have lived in East Knox County for most of their 32 years of marriage. He is the executive director of Angelic Ministries International and the Knox Christian Men’s Job Corps. They have three grown children and two grandsons.
