The Rutledge Pike Pilot raised the most funds out of all 38 East Tennessee Pilot Convenience Stores during the holiday season “red kettle” campaign.

“The Salvation Army positively impacts the lives of so many people in our community, and we are thankful to our fantastic and loyal customers who donate to the Red Kettle campaign and support the organization’s mission every year,” said Dan Fleming, vice president of operations for Pilot.

Funds were raised through the sale of paper red kettles, which were sold at Knoxville-area Pilot convenience store locations for $1 during the 2017 holiday season. During this time, Pilot guests also could “round-up” their purchase to the nearest dollar and donate the additional amount to The Salvation Army. Donations are used to assist community members in need.

“The red kettles have become a sign of the holiday season, and the donations help The Salvation Army of Knoxville year-round,” Fleming said. “Pilot is honored to partner with such a worthwhile organization.”

“The Red Kettle campaign allows us to fund programs that serve many families and individuals throughout Knox County by providing food, shelter and emergency assistance,” said Major David Worthy, area commander for The Salvation Army. “We are grateful to Pilot and every customer who bought a red paper kettle or rounded up their purchase.”
