350 KSO Youth Orchestra students to perform Spring Concert

The Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra (KSYO) will conclude its 44th season with a free Spring Concert on Sunday, April 29, at 7 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre.

Six youth orchestras will perform, including the top Youth Orchestra conducted by KSO Resident Conductor James Fellenbaum. The concert, sponsored by First Tennessee Foundation, is open to the public, and no tickets are required.

The concert will feature performances from six orchestras: Overture and Preludium combined; Philharmonia; Sinfonia; Youth Chamber Orchestra; and the Youth Orchestra.

Students range in experience level from beginner to 10+ years, and they will perform music of Mozart and Tchaikovsky, plus music from the Appalachian region. Several students will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Solo Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. The 40 graduating high school seniors will be recognized at the concert.

The Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra currently is celebrating its 44th season. Approximately 350 students were selected by an audition process in August.
